Helping People Understand Trauma in All Walks of Life

WELCOME

  • Welcome to our landing page for Five Traumatized People In A Car. The landing page will give you access to our podcast and provide links to our various services and other valuable resources.
  • Five Traumatized People In A Car Podcast is a venue for conversation on the topic of trauma.   Everyone has experienced trauma at some point in their lives.  Some trauma is known and some is unknown; yet the effects of it are evident in our everyday lives –be it in our families, relationships, places of employment and in our service to others.  Trauma and its effects can lead to a range of emotional and psychological reactions such as anxiety, depression, irritability, anger, guilt, shame, and mood swings.  There could be intense and intrusive memories and flashbacks; leaving us with an overwhelming sense of being “stuck” in our daily lives.
  • The Podcast is dedicated to discussion on all the “facts and finds” of trauma –be it emotional, physical, physiological and/or spiritual.  We come alongside our listeners and empathically engage with you – in hope and healing.  Join the conversation…
  • Organization and People Dynamics (OPD). We are an umbrella organization for two firms – The Center for Emotional and Spiritual Development (CESD) and (2) The Center for Emotional Development (CED).
  • CESD’s focus is in the Non-Profit realm. And CED’s focus is in the For-Profit sphere.

Our Approach

Your family, your friends, your home, your leadership matters…

The Effects of Trauma

The effects are wide-ranging for all people…

1. EMOTIONAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL IMPACT/SPIRITUAL IMPACT

Trauma can lead to a range of emotional and psychological reactions such as anxiety, depression, irritability, anger, guilt, shame, and mood swings. There could be intense and intrusive memories and flashbacks. They may also develop emotional numbing or detachment as a defense mechanism to protect themselves from further pain. Trauma can also affect one’s view of God (Gen 1:27)

2. COGNITIVE EFFECT

Trauma can affect cognitive functioning, leading to difficulties with concentration, memory, and decision-making. It may also impair the ability to regulate emotions effectively and make it challenging to trust others or perceive the world as safe..

3. PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS

Traumatic experiences can manifest in physical symptoms, including headaches, fatigue, muscle tension, gastrointestinal problems, and a weakened immune system. These physical symptoms can be a result of the body's response to stress and can further exacerbate the psychological distress.

4.CHANGES IN RELATIONSHIP

Trauma can impact an individual's relationships and social interactions. They may have difficulties forming or maintaining close relationships, experience a heightened sense of vulnerability, or struggle with feelings of isolation and detachment. Trust issues, emotional distance, or difficulty expressing emotions can also arise

5. SELF ESTEEM AND IDENTITY

Trauma can negatively affect an individual's self-esteem and sense of identity. They may develop negative beliefs about themselves, experience feelings of worthlessness, or struggle with a diminished sense of self-worth. The trauma may challenge their beliefs about safety, justice, and the world, leading to a shift in their worldview and overall outlook on life.

6. COPING AND BEHAVIOR

Individuals who have experienced trauma may resort to unhealthy coping mechanisms such as substance abuse, self-harm, or other risky behaviors as a means to alleviate emotional distress. These behaviors can provide temporary relief but may exacerbate the long-term effects of trauma
